Datacastle announces QuickCache

QuickCache enables distributed organisations to protect mobile workforce data faster, easier, and smarter via a hybrid cloud.

Date: 1 Nov 2012

Datacastle has announced the release of their new QuickCache™ offering. QuickCaches are smart, centrally managed data caches that allow geographically distributed businesses to manage bandwidth consumption and decrease time-to-protection while backing up and protecting laptop, desktop, and tablet data.

“Workforces today are highly mobile and distributed. Our customers want the time-to-protection and time-to-recovery performance of an on-premise backup solution combined with the off-site disaster recovery, WAN-optimisation, and universal roaming access benefits of online backup.” said Ron Faith, president and CEO of Datacastle. “When you combine QuickCache with Datacastle RED, IT professionals can centrally manage the data protection for a distributed organisation while optimising their bandwidth utilisation.”

Key benefits of QuickCache include:
· 10x improvement in time to protection
· Enhanced time to recovery
· Flexible, bandwidth management for peak and off-peak periods
· Ease of deployment & management in remote locations

Used in conjunction with Datacastle RED, QuickCaches in remote locations perform backup and global deduplication within minutes of installation. Bandwidth can be managed by shifting uploads to Datacastle RED vaults to off-peak times when network traffic is lower. Network managers can improve network performance by controlling when backups occur per location.

Deployment and management is fast and easy because QuickCaches can be installed onto low cost network attached storage (NAS) devices (SSD or HDD) or servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Storage Server 2008 R2.

QuickCaches are designed for “lights out” operations and are centrally policy managed from the Datacastle RED vault.
