Data centre connectivity specialist Next Connex has strengthened its senior management team by appointing Richard Auld as Commercial Director. He will support the company’s high-bandwidth and fibre network sales as well as further developing the product suite and roll-out strategy.
Richard joins Next Connex from Geo Networks, a leader in dark fibre infrastructure, where he was responsible for developing relationships with Systems Integrators and Service Providers, including the design, consultancy and contractual negotiations with Next Connex for its own fibre network.
Before Geo, Richard was with BT for 7 years, holding a variety of positions in the company’s ISP and data networking businesses. These included running a £40m ISP and Broadband line of business and culminating in responsibility for a £100m revenue stream as Regional Director of BT Local Business in south-west England.
Bob Griffiths, MD of Next Connex said: “Richard brings with him tremendous sales and management experience in fibre, optical and Wide Area Networking at the highest levels. This year we are focusing on growth, and we are confident that Richard’s appointment will be key to building and extending strong alliances with our partners and customers.”
Next Connex owns and operates an 8Tb fibre network in the Southern half of the UK connecting key cities and data centres with low-latency, high bandwidth services. As data centre facilities outside of the M25 become increasingly popular due to their available space, enhanced security and lower costs, Next Connex believes its Southern UK network will become a major route for carriers and end-users who want to retain the benefits of low network latency without compromising on flexibility and growth potential.
