Brand-Rex maximises network security

Brand-Rex has announced the launch of its Secure LC Patch Cord System which is designed to maximise security and minimise the possibility of downtime due to unauthorised access.

Date: 14 Jun 2012

Manufactured to the highest possible standards, it is the perfect choice for any application where security is priority and the protection of sensitive information is paramount. Part of the company’s innovative FibrePlus fibre optic cabling portfolio, the Secure LC Patch Cord System comprises a secure patch cord, a blank adaptor plug and an extraction key.

The Secure LC patch cord’s push to latch and lock system prevents unauthorised port access or changes, restricts access to unused ports and offers complete protection from the ingress of dust. The patch cord can only be removed using a unique extraction key, which unlocks and releases the connectors. They are available for custom applications and are offered in a variety of colour-coded options so that they only release the same coloured LC connector or blank adaptor plug.

Available in a variety of lengths, the LC Duplex patch cord is compatible with singlemode and multimode fibre optic based systems and can be plugged into any industry compliant duplex adaptor, quad adaptor, or active interface.

It is particularly suitable for high density applications where space is at a premium and its design means that it can be easily accessed when installed in a cabinet. Highly cost effective and easy to use, the system can also be retrofitted into an existing installation and does not require the purchase and use of expensive special adaptors.

‘Network security is a top priority and using the Secure LC Patch Cord System will help achieve this important objective,’ commented Ian Wilkie, supply chain director at Brand-Rex. ‘Suitable for use in variety of environments such as healthcare, military, financial and educational sectors, as well as data centres, it is part of our ongoing commitment to providing best in class solutions that meet the requirements of the modern network infrastructure.’
