Opsview launches Opsview Mobile to enable anytime, anywhere IT monitoring

Newly-released Opsview Community 3.13 to support Opsview Mobile, which is available for free to Android users.

Date: 27 Jul 2011

Opsview has announced the launch of Opsview Mobile aimed at providing Opsview users with a convenient way to check the health of their on-premise, virtualised and cloud-based systems. Initially available as a free application from Android Market, Opsview Mobile can be used by users who upgrade to the newly released Opsview Community 3.13 IT monitoring tool.

“Business operations are now run 24x7 and any outages can be extremely costly,” said James Peel, product manager at Opsview. “With Opsview Mobile we aim to make it easier for IT managers and systems administrators to manage their business service and IT performance from anywhere in the world. Unlike many third-party mobile IT monitoring solutions, our app has been developed by the same team that has built our core platform which ensures tight integration with Opsview Community edition.”

Key features of the first-generation Opsview Mobile product include:

· Ease of use – simply download the application and users will be up and running in minutes
· Dashboard view – delivering business service status updates straight to your mobile device
· ‘Traffic light’ notifications – display host and service statuses in an easy to understand format
· Intuitive ‘one-tap’ alert acknowledgement – enabling users to quickly drill-down for rapid issue diagnosis
· Alert tracking – track the number of handled and unhandled alerts, displaying the status of the ‘worst’ performing host or service per host group
· Simple customisation – business and infrastructure view can be customised from within a organisations Opsview install
· Proactive alerting – SMS messaging module providing proactive alerts when IT performance falls below a pre-defined threshold

Opsview Community 3.13 is the latest release of the company’s open source IT monitoring tool. In addition to the new APIs for Opsview Mobile, the new version brings a number of new automation enhancements and incremental improvements as result of feedback from Opsview’s user community.

“As with our Community product, we want to get feedback from our user community on Opsview Mobile in order to refine and improve the product going forward. This means that will have the best product available when we bring Opsview Mobile to our enterprise customers. This is the first step on our mobile journey as we plan to bring more rich-features to the product in the future, so that organisations can truly have peace of mind that they have got a 24/7 IT monitoring capability,” added James Peel.
